District Design Collaborative was created to explore the initiative of bringing people together, sharing ideas, challenging convention and creating a stronger design community. “Because it has always been that way” is not an acceptable answer here. DDC believes the best design comes from communication and collaboration. Our goal is to not only give young designers a chance to grow outside their firm, but to open the door for networking and dynamic discussions.

The Dynamic Duo
Nice to meet you

From a young age Abby was always drawn to the world of design. In college, she realized what really captured her attention was the impact that design can have on people within the space. She feels that design allows for the innate ability to create spaces in the built environment that impact occupants experiences, memories, and relationships which is truly impactful. Through this passion for design, Abby has integrated herself not only into her work as an interior designer at //3877, but also in local industry organizations such as NEWH.
As a young professional, continuing to cultivate relationships with other like minded designers was something Abby was very passionate about, which is what ultimately led her and Shannon to start District Design Collaborative. DDC allows designers to have a casual yet intimate setting to come together and challenge one another, build each other up, and cultivate a young and empowered group of designers within the district.

Unlike many people who always knew what their career path would be coming right out of high school, Shannon took the general studies route at her local community college. It was a toss up between her love of art, business, finance and psychology. Nothing seemed right until she found interior design. After getting an Associates Degree, she decided interior architecture was meant for her and attended Mercyhurst University. Shannon loves the fact that she can roll all of her interests into one, while being able to positively impact not only the occupant’s experience but their well being and the environment around them as well.
Shannon has been a designer at //3877 since Oct 2017, is NCIDQ certified and a member of NEWH as well as a member of the Young Leaders Committee for DCBIA. “I can’t wait to start an organization that not only will give young designers a place to mingle with the like, but to give them a chance to network within the industry and to grow within their career”
